Two Games Same Theme

In BDG, Blackmar-Diemer Gambit, Chess on February 25, 2013 at 3:19 am

Recently I won two games online, both, though different openings, allowed me to play the same attacking theme. The first was a tournament game against one of my co-works Coach Alfredo Garcia:

[Event “1st 1 of the year – Round 1”] [Site “Chess.com”] [Date “2013.02.11”] [White “KingLeopold”] [Black “gritmoon”] [Result “1-0”] {WhiteElo “1670”] [BlackElo “1565”] [TimeControl “1 in 2 days”] [Termination “KingLeopold won by checkmate”]

1.d4 Nf6 2.Nc3 d5 3.e4 Nxe4 4.Nxe4 dxe4 BDG/Huebsch  5.Bc4 Nc6!? {More Common is …e6 and …Bf5 } 6.c3 Bf5 7.f3 exf3 8.Nxf3 e6 9.O-O Bd6 10.Ng5?! {Really a wasted move as it is not attacking anything. But I was counting on my opponent to… } …O-O?! {This allowed me to follow through with my vicious plan of attack }  11.Rxf5!

11…exf5 12.Qh5 h6 13.Nxf7 Rxf7 {Here I was expecting …Qf8 which I would of followed by 14.Nxh6++ Kh8 15.Nf7++ Kg8 16.Qh8# mate} 14.Bxf7+ Kh8 15.Bxh6 Bxh2+ 16.Qxh2 Qxd4+ 17.Be3+ Qh4 18.Qxh4# 1-0

Now I don’t want anyone to think Alfredo is a push over as he recently won 1st place in his division at the Tempe Open

My second game was an online game against Mike Nikitin of Michigan.

[Event “Let’s Play!”] [Site “Chess.com”] [Date “2013.02.20”] [White “KingLeopold”] [Black “mikeniks”] [Result “1-0”] [WhiteElo “1680”] [BlackElo “1738”] [TimeControl “1 in 3 days”] [Termination “KingLeopold won by resignation”]

1.d4 d5 2.e4 c6 {Caro-Kann} 3.Nc3 dxe4 4.f3 exf3 {BDG by transposition} 5.Nxf3 Nf6 6.Be3 Bf5 {This Bishop will soon become my target of opportunity} 7.Bc4 e6 8.O-O Nbd7 9.Ng5?! {Once again I play this useless Knight move} …Be7 10.Rxf5!

10…exf5  11.Nxf7 Qc7 {I was expecting …Qb6} 12.Nxh8 Ng4 {I spent a lot of time calculating my next move and deciding that I could survive the coming Queen check} 13.Qf3 Qxh2+ 14.Kf1 Bh4 {this move came as a complete surprise to me} 15.Bg1 Qh1 16.Ke2 Bf2?! {There has to be something better than this} 17.Bxf2 Qxa1?! {For now the Queen is out of play allowing me to mount an unstoppable attack} 18.Qxf5 Ngf6 19.Qe6+ Kd8 20.Nf7+ Kc8  21.Ba6!! {This not so easy to find move just wins for me} …Qxb2 22.Qxc6+ Kb8 23.Bg3+ 1-0
